Work done by the PPP Agency in 2021:
- 24 public-private partnership projects of the energy field were reviewed.
- During 2021, the Agency held various meetings, including with potential investors of the technology field, with the high officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, potential American investors, Proparco International Investment Company, PMCG International Consulting, with representatives of the Georgian Consulting Company Reform Laboratory, of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Energy Program, and the World Bank (WB). In addition, meetings between several parties involved in the PPP process were also organized. The main topic of discussions was ongoing public-private partnership projects and opportunities for new PPP projects;
- In May 2021, the Public-Private Partnership Agency hosted American investors interested in investing in Georgia’s renewable energy sector. The representatives of the Agency informed the guests about the investment environment in Georgia, talked about the various modalities of investments and the legal framework regulating the implementation of the public-private partnership projects. The stakeholders received information about the state support mechanisms and their adjustment to specific projects, as well as Georgia’s experience in the field of renewable energy and future prospects;
- The PPP Agency met with the representatives of the Georgian office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). During the meeting, parties discussed the issues of improving the legal framework regulating the process of public-private partnership as a result of the accumulated experience of the Agency, as well as the possibilities of implementing best practices in the world, taking into account the existing institutional and legal features in Georgia. The representatives of the EBRD Georgia Office and the PPP Agency also discussed possible ways to improve inter-agency communication and cooperation mechanisms.
