PPP Agency Held Meeting with the Korean Investors

Today, the visitors from South Korean visited PPP Agency of Georgia. The Koreans are interested in investing in the energy and infrastructure sectors using a public-private partnership tool in Georgia. In particular, the project envisages the production of eco lightings (LEDs) in Georgia and the subsequent sale of the products in the Caucasus region, as well as the replacement / provision of lighting systems / services for highways, state and local roads in Georgia.
Among the guests were two vice presidents of the South Korean company AIM – Minho Kim, Seong Bum Park, their Georgian business partners – Mogeli Tkebuchava and Giorgi Tkebuchava, who lead the company “Phazisi Energy”, as well as Hanani Ben Moshe and Olga Chvan, who are also partners and represent the company “KIG”.
Ms. Natalia Motsonelidze, Chairperson of the Public-Private Partnership Agency, and Mr. Levan Batiashvili, Senior Analyst of the Agency, talked to the guests about the current legal framework in Georgia, planned legislative changes, experience in implementing public-private partnership projects and investment environment in general. The representatives of the Agency explained to the guests the necessary criteria of the public-private partnership project provided by the Georgian legislation. The Korean guests were also provided with a guidebook, which explains in details those stages / phases of the project implementation, which are defined by the Law of Georgia on Public-Private Partnerships.
It should be noted that the eco-friendly and highly efficient LED lightings company “Hyosung & Plus Company” is one of the largest manufacturers in South Korea. The company supplies light bulbs to government offices in the Republic of Korea, as well as large construction companies. LED lightings enable significant energy savings and are used for buildings, highways, streets, squares, etc.
